Manresa Castle
Port Townsend, Washington, United States

The Story
Two guest rooms in Port Townsend’s castlelike hotel hold very different ghost stories: a lost woman in Room 306 and a robed figure near Room 302.
The Hauntings
Local reporting includes a personal family account: a former hotel housekeeper reportedly set his keys on a table in Room 306, turned away, then saw the ring hovering above the furniture before it fell. Older castle lore tells of Kate, a young woman said to have leapt from a window while grieving a lover, and a Jesuit monk said to haunt the attic over Room 302. These are separate legends, not documented deaths. The housekeeper story comes through a secondhand family recollection.
The History
Built in 1892 for Port Townsend’s early mayor Charles Eisenbeis, the mansion later served the Jesuits as Manresa Hall and subsequently became a hotel.

Plan Your Visit
Manresa Castle is still taking hotel reservations. The operator provides an official booking website and public hotel address. Guest-room corridors and particular rooms are for registered guests, and booking does not authorize a private investigation elsewhere in the building.
