Glastenbury’s reputation combines unexplained disappearances with stories of unnatural silence and a large, elusive creature called the Bennington Monster. Hikers’ unsettling encounters are repeated by paranormal guides. The mountain is a real wilderness destination, but the accounts do not establish a supernatural cause for the disappearances.
