The Story
A woman in white follows a vanished doorway at this Jefferson tour home. In the garden, another figure seems forever in a hurry. The Grove welcomes visitors through reserved, owner-led tours—not unannounced calls.
The Hauntings
The Lady in White does not appear to respect the house’s alterations. Ghost Hunt TV’s account describes her passing through a wall where a porch doorway once stood, as though she still knows an older version of the rooms. Outside, a suited man is said to hurry through the back garden, apparently late for an appointment. These are the house’s own continuing stories, not a staged scare attraction. The official tour invites guests into the front parlor to hear experiences associated with past and present owners. Its appeal lies in that domestic scale: a familiar room, an old route through the house, and someone who seems to keep using it.
The History
Also called the Stilley–Young House, The Grove dates to 1861 and combines French Creole and Greek Revival architectural influences.
A sense of place.
