The Story
The spirit of Deadwood lawman Seth Bullock is said to remain on duty at the historic hotel that bears his name.
The Hauntings
The Bullock Hotel’s managers and Deadwood tourism bureau both tell the story of Seth Bullock roaming the corridors of his former establishment. It is an old-fashioned Western haunting with a clear personality: an imposing sheriff who, according to local lore, still keeps an eye on the business he helped create. The story is presented as a piece of the hotel’s ongoing identity, and guests can hear it from guides during advertised ghost tours.
The History
The hotel was built in the 1890s after a fire destroyed Bullock’s earlier hardware enterprise. It has operated as a central Deadwood landmark for generations.
