The Story
The mill's night watchman Peleg Walker is said to keep his rounds long after death, carrying a lantern through the ruins. In the legend, the factory bell continued ringing even after its rope, then the bell itself, were removed. Machinery ran unattended and the waterwheel turned backward, frightening away the workforce.
