The Story
Childlike steps on the third floor, scattered toys and an unexplained touch on the cheek are part of the Stone Lion Inn’s ghost lore—separate from the mansion’s staged murder-mystery dinners.
The Hauntings
The account collected by AllStays describes toys disturbed in an upstairs room and footsteps heard when children should not be playing there. Some guests reportedly woke to a gentle pat on the cheek, with nobody beside the bed. A different presence is suggested by the smell, and sometimes the appearance, of cigar smoke. The stories are attached to an old family home rather than to a fictional dinner-party plot. Their small domestic details—the toys, doors and bedside touch—are what distinguish the haunting from the entertainment offered at the inn.
The History
TravelOK identifies the house as a 1907 Victorian mansion converted into a bed-and-breakfast.
