The Story
Hope Furnace’s lantern-bearing watchman is said to repeat his final rounds on stormy nights. In the Ohio Exploration Society’s version, lightning blinded the worker while he was on top of the operating furnace, causing a fatal fall. The reported dark figure disappears when lightning strikes, leaving only the ruined furnace.
