The Story
Beaver Creek’s canal ruins carry two familiar legends: Jake, a caretaker with a lantern, returns to his lock on stormy nights; Gretchen appears near the lock where her coffin was supposedly kept before an ill-fated voyage. A separate park tradition tells of abandoned bride Esther Hale wandering near Hambleton’s Mill in her wedding dress. Grouped as one park profile; its locks and mill legends are not counted as additional locations.
