In a 2019 incident recounted by the Trail, a staff member and family decorating upstairs late at night heard a man clear his throat below after everyone else had gone. They interpreted it as the privacy-loving Alonzo Roberson signaling that it was time to leave. This story joins other staff and visitor encounters in the mansion's ghost tours.
