The Story
A former Buffalo church and funeral home has become both a neighborhood museum and a destination for organized paranormal investigations.
The Hauntings
The Iron Island Museum’s reputation grew from unexplained encounters reported inside its rooms, prompting television interest and a continuing program of after-hours investigations. The building had a religious and funerary life before its preservation as a local-history museum, giving the ghost stories a distinct setting amid everyday objects from Buffalo’s Lovejoy neighborhood. The museum does not need an invented ghost identity or a fabricated staff encounter to merit its place in the atlas: its accessible paranormal program is part of the place’s present identity.
The History
The museum preserves the history of Buffalo’s Lovejoy district in a historic former church and funeral-home building.
A sense of place.
