The Story

Belhurst's best-known legend concerns Isabella, an opera singer said to have died when an escape tunnel collapsed. Her white-clad figure supposedly wanders the Seneca Lake shore and lawn, grieving her lover. Staff and guests also report moving glasses, taps turning themselves on, nocturnal singing and sightings attributed to former caretaker Dick O'Brien.
