Pine Hill Cemetery — Blood Cemetery

The Story
Blood Cemetery takes its name from a family, not a documented massacre. Its haunting centers on a carved hand said to change direction—and on quieter personal encounters reported among the graves.
The Hauntings
New Hampshire Magazine recounts the story of Abel Blood’s headstone: its finger pointed upward by day but supposedly downward after dark. The same article notes that vandals damaged the stone and it was removed. The legend remains part of the cemetery’s identity, even though visitors should not expect the original marker to be standing. In a public comment posted to Haunted Places on October 30, 2021, a contributor using the name Lava Fangs recalled what felt like a child touching their hand and a woman’s indistinct voice from the woods. That is one visitor’s account, separate from the famous headstone story.
A sense of place.
