HauntedHouses.com collects stories of phantom battle sounds and apparitions of soldiers and Dakota warriors at the former fort. Its investigator also describes an oppressive presence upstairs in a reconstructed blockhouse; a separate investigation reportedly filmed the guardhouse door unlatching itself.
