The Story
Fort Raleigh's haunted reputation is tied to Virginia Dare and the disappearance of the Roanoke colonists. Haunted Places records a belief that Dare's spirit remains at the historic site. This is later folklore built around an unresolved colonial history; it does not establish what happened to the colonists.
