The Story
Michigan Haunted Houses recounts guards seeing a figure on stairs leading toward the roof. The site's legend identifies him as architect George D. Mason, although the dramatic story attached to that identification should not be treated as biography.
The Hauntings
Michigan Haunted Houses recounts guards seeing a figure on stairs leading toward the roof. The site's legend identifies him as architect George D. Mason, although the dramatic story attached to that identification should not be treated as biography. Historical explanations in the directory are unverified unless separately sourced. Detroit Historical Society explicitly debunks the bankruptcy and rooftop-suicide story: Mason died at home in 1948, aged 91. The apparition remains folklore, not evidence of that alleged death.
