The Story
According to the legend retold by Haunted Places, people escaping slavery died when an overturned lamp set their hiding place ablaze, and their spirits remained in the cellar. Visitors report figures, moaning and cold patches belowstairs. An apparition identified as Alexander Hannah is said to appear upstairs and on the balcony. Supernatural claims are attributed accounts. Historical backstories have not been independently corroborated.
