The Story

Explore Southern History connects the lighthouse ghost to keeper Frederick Osborne, shot during an argument with his assistant in 1880. Later stories suggest he continued tending the light after death. A 1908 account concerns a keeper’s wife having difficulty with the mechanism while her husband was away, drawing the former keeper back into the lighthouse’s working life.
