The Story
HauntedPlaces.org recounts several versions of Elizabeth’s legend. In one she is the daughter of a guard at the city gate, still greeting people; in another she is a young victim of the yellow-fever epidemic of 1821. Her supposed appearances link the cemetery entrance and neighboring gate, so these variants should not be counted as separate haunted places.
