Georgiana Cemetery — Ethel Allen

Merritt Island, Florida, United States

The Story

At a little Merritt Island graveyard, the story of Ethel Allen has become part of the region’s unsettling collection of lost-soul legends.

The Hauntings

The Georgiana Cemetery account centers on Ethel Allen, a young woman whose violent death in the 1930s gave rise to stories of her presence near the burial ground. Versions also connect the ghost to a nearby tavern associated with her last days. Unusual sounds and sightings are attributed to her, although a ghost story cannot identify a person behind every impression. The cemetery is a genuine small burial site, distinct from the businesses that have repeated its haunting.

The History

Georgiana Cemetery lies on Merritt Island, along the Indian River Lagoon region. The account dates Ethel Allen’s burial to 1934.
