The Story
Belmont Hall’s legend centers on a Revolutionary-era guard stationed on the Captain’s Walk. Delaware Haunted Houses says the guard was shot and died inside on the second floor. The haunting is attached to his lingering presence and a bloodstain that the story insists never entirely disappeared from the place where he collapsed. Shooting and permanent bloodstain are folklore claims, not verified historical findings.
