The Story
Haunted Places associates the former inn with Elizabeth, or Betsy, Shaw, whose ghost is said to walk the nearby road and the inn site. The tradition links her restless presence to a trial and execution after her baby’s death. The haunting survives as a story of a condemned woman returning to the neighborhood. Source historical narrative is uncorroborated; later apartment use reported. Exact residential address withheld.
