The Story
Haunted Places records a longstanding haunted reputation at the former Fairfield State Hospital, whose many buildings were linked by tunnels. Its institutional past became the basis for ghost stories and television investigations, including MTV’s Fear. The source ties the haunting to alleged suffering at the hospital rather than identifying a single named ghost. Historical allegations not independently verified; current grounds access differs from abandoned-building access. Do not enter closed buildings.
