The Drish House

The Story
The Drish House's tower is associated with a phantom fire. In the best-known tale, Sarah Drish wanted candles from her husband's funeral used again at her own. When they could not be found, her restless presence supposedly produced lights or flames in the tower that vanished without a real blaze. This story became widely known through Thirteen Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey. It is folklore, not proof of a supernatural fire, and the building's documented nineteenth-century history should be kept separate from later dramatic versions.
