The Story
Moundville preserves the monumental remains of a Mississippian community, while some visitors also tell stories of unexplained lights near a mound and drums heard without a visible performer. Those reports are a small folklore layer on a much larger Indigenous history. They should not be presented as proof of a curse, an unnamed burial-ground legend, or the beliefs of present-day Native communities.
