Room 311 is the setting of the Annalisa Netherly legend. WDEF interviewed hotel staff and a ghost-tour operator about unexplained noises, lights and guests feeling someone touch them or sit beside them on the bed. During renovations, workers also reported a stubbornly locked door. The supposed murder behind the legend is not independently documented.
The hotel’s own account identifies Abigail as the spirit associated with Room 711. In the legend she returns to the station after losing her soldier sweetheart during World War II. Guests connect noises, unexpected presences and other room disturbances with her lingering search; the tragic biography remains part of the hotel’s storytelling.
Thomas House’s own history names Sarah, a child spirit said to frequent the White Hallway and Room 37. Mr. Cloyd is described as a tall shadow who whistles while roaming the halls. Guests and staff also report children laughing, doors moving and figures passing through corridors, stories the hotel explores during organized ghost-hunt stays.
Nashville Ghosts describes staff encounters with a white-dressed figure identified as Mary McGavock. The apparition is linked to light switches, loosened bulbs and running water. Another employee’s story concerns a chandelier that began shaking while she was alone preparing the room; footsteps and whispered conversation fill out the mansion’s reputation.

The Haunted Places entry describes members of the Chandler family continuing to walk through Wheatlands’ halls. The old house’s paranormal reputation has attracted organized investigations as well as visitors. This concise family-apparition tradition is retained without repeating the much larger, poorly supported death totals that appear in promotional accounts.
In a story collected by Southern Spirit Guide, a visitor and docent watched bedding shift in Mollie’s room: sheets smoothed, pillows moved and a depression appeared as if someone lay down. Later, the visitor’s family reportedly saw shutters moving in the same room after the museum closed. Local lore connects these disturbances with Mollie Woodruff.
